Digital Collectibles Platform

Client: A US based digital collectibles and fan engagement platform that enables brands, artists, and communities to launch interactive campaigns, reward user participation and drive long-term engagement through digital experiences. The platform serves two sides of the business: a customer-facing experience where users discover and interact with digital collectibles, campaigns, games, and rewards, and an admin platform that enables internal teams to manage campaigns, content, users, commerce, and platform operations.

The Challenge

After eight years of continuous development, Streetteam had accumulated a mature, feature-rich platform built around a legacy technology foundation.

While the platform supported established business workflows, its architecture had become increasingly difficult to maintain and evolve. The business was experiencing several challenges:

  • Performance issues: Slow page loads and inefficient application flows were affecting the user experience.
  • Legacy architecture: Existing components made the platform harder to maintain and increased the effort required to introduce new functionality.
  • Limited scalability: The architecture was not optimized to efficiently support increasing traffic, campaigns, and user activity.
  • Slow feature delivery: Introducing new capabilities often required working around existing technical constraints.
  • Limited integrations: The platform lacked modern integrations needed to create richer social, engagement, and commerce experiences.
  • Operational limitations: The existing admin capabilities did not provide sufficient control or visibility over the growing platform.
  • Fragmented analytics: Business and operations teams lacked comprehensive visibility into user behavior, campaign participation, purchases, and revenue.
  • Aggressive go-to-market timeline: Streetteam needed a production-ready MVP within approximately five months to validate the product and support its fundraising initiatives.

The requirement was therefore much larger than a UI redesign.

Streetteam needed to transform both sides of the platform: modernize the customer experience while creating the technical and operational foundation required to manage, scale, and continuously evolve the product.

Our Approach

We took a re-platforming and product modernization approach rather than continuing to patch the existing system. Working closely with Streetteam's founders and product stakeholders, we analyzed the existing workflows, identified technical and operational bottlenecks, and rebuilt the platform around four core objectives:

Performance → Scalability → Product Agility → Operational Control

1. Rebuilt the Application on a Modern Technology Foundation

We rebuilt core capabilities using React.js, AngularJS, Go, and Node.js, creating a more maintainable architecture capable of supporting new features and increasing platform demand. The customer-facing experience was redesigned across collectibles, campaigns, games, rewards, packs, and commerce.

2. Upgraded the Admin Platform

A major part of the transformation was the modernization of the admin dashboard, which serves as the operational control center for the customer-facing platform. We expanded the admin platform so internal teams could manage and configure the user-facing experience more efficiently without depending on engineering teams for every operational change.

Administrators gained tools for:

  • User and campaign management
  • Digital collectible and pack configuration
  • Games and rewards
  • Content and feature management
  • Sales and transactions
  • User and campaign analytics
  • Revenue and engagement reporting

This reduced dependency on engineering for day-to-day platform management and gave business teams greater visibility and control.

3. Built a Scalable Cloud Infrastructure

We moved the platform toward a modern, containerized cloud architecture using Docker and AWS ECS. This provided a more standardized deployment model and created a foundation capable of scaling application workloads as user and campaign activity increased.

We also used:

  • Cloudflare for content delivery, performance optimization, and security.
  • Redis for high-speed data access and caching requirements, helping reduce unnecessary load on the primary application and database layers.
  • PostgreSQL as the core relational data layer.

4. Expanded the Platform with Engagement and Commerce Capabilities

Rather than limiting the transformation to technical modernization, we expanded the platform's capabilities to support a broader fan engagement ecosystem.

We introduced:

  • Interactive games
  • Rewards-based engagement
  • Integrated YouTube, TikTok, and Stripe to connect social content
  • Free and paid digital collectible packs
  • Shopping cart functionality
  • Checkout and payment workflows
  • Campaign management
  • Administrative controls
  • Analytics and reporting

These capabilities were designed as reusable platform functionality, allowing Streetteam to build different campaign experiences without developing every campaign from scratch.

5. Automated Deployment and Release Workflows

We implemented GitHub Actions to automate build and deployment workflows. Combined with Docker and AWS ECS, this created a more consistent and repeatable release process. The project followed an Agile delivery model, with functionality delivered incrementally and continuously validated with Streetteam's founders and product stakeholders. This approach was particularly important given the requirement to deliver a production-ready MVP within an aggressive timeline.

"Working with TeamExtn has been a genuinely great experience. The team consistently delivers high-quality work on time, communicates proactively, and brings real professionalism to every stage of the project. What stands out most is how much they feel like an extension of our own team — reliable, skilled, and easy to work with. Recommended without hesitation. The best part, any idea I have instantly becomes better once I share with them. The vision I have in mind and the end-product are night & day different - but in the best possible way!"
